Covid-Friendly Intimate Backyard Weddings

What’s not to love about a backyard wedding? They are comfortable, intimate and perhaps best of all, they are a budget-friendly (often free) venue. Plus, before you shrug off the idea of a backyard wedding as an overly casual affair (with a rustic vibe only), know that there are endless outdoor wedding ideas to transform the backyard into anything you want it to be. We are thrilled to see the resurgence of backyard gatherings as our roots run deep in catering at private homes. Below, we are featuring an intimate backyard wedding from early March 2021. Although the pandemic has put a pause on many events, intimate gatherings with friends and families are starting to come back as San Mateo County COVID-19 numbers continue to improve. This special wedding included close family members of both the bride and the groom, hosted by the Mother of the Bride in the comfort of their family home.

Individual boxed hors d’oeuvres and shared appetizer plates were the highlight of the afternoon. The reception took place in the mid-afternoon, so the couple decided heavy appetizers were the way to go (rather than a heavy meal). Inside the box, we featured a few of our most popular, top-selling appetizers which included our Fig And Honey Mascarpone Crostini with chopped pancetta and Ancho-Chili Chicken Salad (Gf) served on a mini corn tortilla with roasted red bell pepper and cilantro garnish. Plattered on each table and shared among family members featured a Weir fan favorite - Sliced Sirloin of Beef with caramelized onion and chipotle aioli. Each guest also received an individual Crudite and Artisan Antipasto And Cheese Plate. It was a delightful afternoon spent among family and friends, celebrating love and family.
